Chickpea Sandwich Filling/Spread/Dip

Vegetarian Chickpea Sandwich Filling Recipe

Healthy Chickpea Spread! Goes great with crackers and Whole Wheat/Multigrain Pita bread.
The  dip is very tasty and flavorful due to the flavors that come from the dill and lemon. The ingredients used made the spread taste very light and fresh.  In a way this reminded me of an Egg Salad Sandwich spread, minus the egg (cholestorol???).

Instead of using Canned Beans, I decided to use Dried Garbanzo beans.  Some canned beans usually have a higher sodium content, which is why I'd go for the dried beans instead.   Dried beans are much more cheaper to buy than canned beans.  So I am very pro dried beans.  The only problem is that  dried beans are more time consuming to prepare, but overall it's probably worth it.  I used organic beans too.

Trader Joe's Chicken Tamale ... Trader José

So this post is going to be a review of something I ate from the frozen foods section of Trader Joes.

I just love shopping at Trader Joes, they have fresh affordable vegetables, healthier foods, and an awesome frozen food's section filled with delicious meals, snacks and desserts.

Chicken Tamale, with shredded chicken, cheese, spices, wrapped with corn husk.
Hot Tamale! -  I ate the tamale with some salsa, it was delicious!

Trader Joe's is one of my many favorite supermarkets, along with Whole Foods, and my local produce shop. I'm the type of person that could spend hours at a supermarket.  I don't have a reason why, it could be that I find food both fascinating and delicious!

Brunch at Twisted Fork

So I previously wrote a post on Twisted Fork, but I love this place that I decided to write another post.  This post will be different.  It will feature Breakfast at Twisted Fork!

Smoked Salmon Eggs Benny:  Toasted Brioche, with Smoked Salmon, Poached Egg, Hollandaise Sauce, with Sautéed Spinach, Rosti and Baked Beans

One of the most delicious satisfying breakfasts I've had.  The Egg Benny dish is full of different flavors, from the backed beans, the smoked salmon, hollandaise sauce, and potatoes.  I found this dish to be very tasty, and filling.... This was the perfect start to my Relaxing Saturday.

I highly recommend brunch at Twisted Fork.

Power Foods Update #1

After buying Power Foods, I started to cook with healthier ingredients.  I have added quinoa, soba noodles (buckwheat noodles), yogurt, tofu, and raw vegetables, and fruits to my list of things-to-eat.  I even made Kale Chips the other day, they were delicious (recipe not in book, you can find the recipe online)

Baked Kale Chip Recipe

Do I notice any changes after eating more nutritious foods?

I know this sounds cliche, but as of now I feel fuller longer, and more energized after eating power foods.

I still like my junk foods, I just eat junk in moderation.

Anna Cake House

Chocolate and Coconut Cake

Does Anna Cake House have good cakes?

Well I like them. I personally, have been eating their chocolate cake ever since I was a young child.  Their chocolate cakes are my personal favorite, however if you like coconut, or peanut, they do sell delicious coconut and peanut coated cakes.

In terms of density, I would describe their chocolate and coconut cakes as light and fluffy with a spongy texture.   They are frosted with a nice butter cream frosting and delicately coated with chocolate sprinkles or coconut.

These cakes are delicious, and I will always return when I have a chocolate/coconut cake craving.  Their cakes are affordable, and not ridiculously priced. (Good Job!)

Thomas Haas Fine Chocolates & Patisserie

You should always leave room for dessert! Here's why...
Delicious Pistachio Macaroon, with a smooth pistachio cream center.  I love pistachio!!!
Yummy Macaroons - Assorted, but all so tasty and delicious!
Amazing Almond Croissant, baked to perfection! (Click picture for a better view)

Yes, Thomas Haas is well known for his chocolates, but he also makes delicious pastries too! My favorite treat would have to be the Almond Croissant, it's probably the best in town.  Although its buttery, and full of fat, you can't deny that its delicious!  I never really liked Macaroons, but after eating the Macaroons from TH,  I will make an exception.  The macaroons are so pretty and delicate.  I quite enjoy them!

Heron Restaurant

Cold Plate - Caesar Salad, Salami, Smoked Salmon, Marinated Artichokes, Salad Wrap
Desserts! Fruit, Cheese Cake, Fruit Tart

Pros:  Fresh, Good Quality Food, You get what you pay for (So don't expect a grand buffet)

Cons:  Limited selection of foods.  When it's busy there are line ups! When you get to the front of the line, the "good stuffs" gone! You just have to wait patiently for the next batch of food.

Top Pot Doughnut - Seattle

Top Pot Doughnut! Delicious doughnuts with a soft and chewy texture. They are "hand forged" because they are made the old fashion way.

Ambiance:  Nice place, clean, great place to sit and read a book while enjoying a plate of doughnuts.

Pros:  Delicious doughnuts, nice atmosphere, good selection of doughnuts.
Cons:  Can't think of any.

Take me to Top Pot's please!

Bin 941 Tapas Parlour

Hey everyone,

I've been wanting to visit the Bin 941 for a while, and the other week, I had the chance to go!  What I was most excited to try were the fries.  I know it may sound silly, but I do love fries, a lot.   Anyways pictures are worth a thousand words....

Flank steak, cinnamon chilli rub, maple syrup chipotle glaze black pepper pomme frites.
Flank steak tasted sweet, fries were salty, but very good.

Flank Steak Close Up

Ahi Tuna, Shitake Chow Mein, Soy lime Sauce

Pros:  Great presentation. Good selection of food. Tasty Flank Steak. Delicious fries.
Cons: The Flank Steak was served cold.  Very small place.

Last thoughts:  I would probably order the Flank Steak again, but not the Ahi Tuna.  I would probably give this place a second chance, just to try out the steamed Cortez Island mussels, risotto and pomme frites!

NingTu - Happy Chinese New Year

Since it's Chinese New Year, I decided to do a post on Chinese Food!

One of my many favorite Chinese restaurants in town is NingTu.  What I love about this place, is that they serve Good Chinese Food! Here is what I ate during my last visit.

Dumplings - They were good, the dough was more just a little thicker than usual, but the dumpling's still tasted delicious.
Fried Noodles - Delicious, if you love noodles, you might love this too.
Baked Seasame Pastry Stuffed with Preserved Veg and Ground Pork - I love this! I eat this almost every time I go! I call them pockets.
Sweet Soy Milk and Chinese Doughnut - Soy Milk was served warm and fresh.
I don't know what this is called, but it's served cold, with cucumbers, chicken, and some starchy type flat noodles, with some kind of nutty or sesame sauce.  It was oily, but still pretty good.

Overall this place is good, it may not be the fanciest restaurant in town, but they do serve delicious food! I recommend this place to anyone that appreciates Chinese food.

Cafe Medina - I LOVE WAFFLES!

I love Waffles!

I love having breakfast/brunch at Cafe Medina, because they probably serve the best waffle's in town.

Waffles: With a side of dark chocolate sauce.  My other favorites include White Chocolate Pistachio, and the Raspberry Caramel.
Fricasse: 2 fried eggs, braised short ribs, roast potatoes, caramelized onions, arugula and smoked applewood cheddar with grilled focaccia.

The Fricasse was delicious.  The braised short rib was so tasty and the fried egg just makes this dish taste even richer.

When ever I visit Cafe Medina, it is MUST that I order a plate of waffles!

If you love waffles (and breakfast) as much as I do, you should definitely visit Cafe Medina.

The only thing that I don't like about this place, is how busy it gets during the weekend.  I guess the secret is out.  Everyone know's where the best waffles are...
