However they featured their breakfast (Bang for the Buck), which I've yet to try... Nevertheless, this is one of my favorite happy hour spots in North America!<br /><br />One of the dishes we always seem to order is the manila clams, because "S" is just loves manila clams. &nbsp;I prefer mussels, and pretty much everything else on the menu. &nbsp; To be honest I tend to go a little overboard with the ordering, but that's just because we don't get that kind of deal here in Vancouver...<br /><br />So here is what we shared!<br /><i><br /></i><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; I can't eat solid food yet :(. &nbsp; My diet consist mainly of liquidy/soft foods, and food is starting to get boring. &nbsp; My gums are all stitched up, so I have to take more precaution while eating. <br /><br />So I decided to post up what I am eating, and what I've bought from the supermarket. &nbsp; Some of the dishes are tasty, but if you're stuck eating the same thing for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it gets quite boring. <br /><ul><li><b>Chinese Porridge a.k.a Congee</b>: &nbsp;I used chicken broth, chopped chicken breast, rice, chopped carrots, cilantro's and spring onions. &nbsp;I added some soy sauce, sesame oil and fish sauce for added flavor. By far the tastiest dish. &nbsp;</li><li><b>Silken Tofu Strawberry Banana shake</b>: &nbsp;Silken tofu, strawberries, banana, milk and apple juice blended to a smooth consistency. &nbsp;I'll probably try a strawberry-peach-raspberry silken tofu smoothie. &nbsp;</li><li><b>Hazelnut Chocolate Shake</b>: &nbsp;Chocolate Ice Cream, Ensure (Chocolate flavored), Hazelnut Butter, and milk, blended. You could use peanut butter too. &nbsp;</li><li><b>Broccoli Soup</b>: &nbsp;Cream of Broccoli, Boiled Broccoli, blended together.&nbsp;</li><li><b>Butternut squash soup</b>: &nbsp;I bought some pre-made, I decided to add a teaspoon of sour cream to my soup!</li><li><b>Tomato Soup</b>: &nbsp;Classic comfort food! &nbsp;</li><li><b>Apple Sauce:</b> &nbsp;Baby food! Well not really, you can buy some, or make some yourself. &nbsp; It's a great way to get some fruit into your diet. &nbsp;</li><li><b>Oatmeal/Steal Cut Oats</b>: &nbsp;Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal! I will be moving on to Steal Cut Oats in a few days. &nbsp;</li><li><b>Chocolate Pudding:</b> &nbsp;Well any type of pudding is good, chocolate or vanilla, whatever you prefer.&nbsp;</li><li><b>Yogurt</b>! &nbsp;I wish we had more fro-yo stores in Vancouver.&nbsp;</li><li><b>Gelato</b>: &nbsp;Yum! I will be visiting my favorite gelato shops once I am ready to get out of the house.&nbsp;</li><li><i>I need more ideas!!!</i></li></ul>http://fueledbyfoodblog.blogspot.com/2011/07/post-wisdom-teeth-extraction-what.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (FueledByFood)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-311206729555678059.post-2585228726993300179Thu, 12 May 2011 04:29:00 +00002011-05-13T13:54:57.994-07:00Vancouver-BCElysian Coffee - Part 2I love Elysian Coffee. &nbsp; It's conveniently located on Broadway, just a block away from the Cambie Skytrain, and off the 99 B-Line. &nbsp;I usually enjoy a nice drink whenever I <i>feel</i> that I've had a "productive" week. <br /><br />This trip was all about the hot chocolate. &nbsp;I just felt like having hot chocolate that day. &nbsp;I also felt that it was time to try something different at Elysian. &nbsp;I usually order lattes or cappuccinos. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ns4eQ5w-fM8/Tcticw70ozI/AAAAAAAAAr4/KIdTJ6yO-eA/s1600/Elysian+Hot+Chocolate.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><i><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ns4eQ5w-fM8/Tcticw70ozI/AAAAAAAAAr4/KIdTJ6yO-eA/s320/Elysian+Hot+Chocolate.JPG" width="320" /></i></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><i>Hot Chocolate</i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XqJSQNA8LgM/Tctih4_yyyI/AAAAAAAAAr8/zZCzLIrEeFk/s1600/Elysian+Latte.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><i><img border="0" height="248" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XqJSQNA8LgM/Tctih4_yyyI/AAAAAAAAAr8/zZCzLIrEeFk/s320/Elysian+Latte.JPG" width="320" /></i></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><i>Latte</i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0OHlTjQCUCs/Tctiq3zyW8I/AAAAAAAAAsA/Tx-DFSC51FA/s1600/Elysian+Quiche.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><i><img border="0" height="198" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0OHlTjQCUCs/Tctiq3zyW8I/AAAAAAAAAsA/Tx-DFSC51FA/s320/Elysian+Quiche.JPG" width="320" /></i></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><i>Quiche - The quiche was pretty good. &nbsp;I enjoyed the filling, and the crust tasted butt</i>ery. &nbsp;</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is probably one of my favorite coffee shops in town. &nbsp; On my next visit I will try the Chai Latte.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/1431670/restaurant/Fairview/Elysian-Coffee-Vancouver"><img alt="Elysian Coffee on Urbanspoon" src="http://www.urbanspoon.com/b/link/1431670/minilink.gif" style="border: none; height: 36px; width: 130px;" /></a></div>http://fueledbyfoodblog.blogspot.com/2011/05/elysian-coffee-part-2.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (FueledByFood)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-311206729555678059.post-7722061647521058637Sun, 08 May 2011 02:36:00 +00002011-08-20T20:23:47.807-07:00VegetarianVancouver-BCMexicanBandidas TaqueriaBandidas Taqueria! I didn't know what to expect when I came here. &nbsp;Turns out that everything on the menu is vegetarian or vegan. &nbsp;I didn't know that! It's 100x better than supermarket tortillas! <br /><br />I guess I could probably re-create a similar dish like this at home, minus the hand made tortillas. &nbsp;Just saying... I know how to shred cheese, buy pinto beans, sour cream, and cheese, &nbsp;chop lettuce, and make fresh salsa! I just don't know how to make tortillas. I guess I'd be stuck with supermarket tortillas.. :(<br /><br />anyways...<br /><br />Overall this place is a great place to chat, enjoy food and basically enjoy the company of your friends after a long hectic week. <br /><br />On my next trip I'd like to try the Nachos!<br /><br />Note: &nbsp; This place does not take reservations, you could end up waiting for a while. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/1419019/restaurant/Kensington/Bandidas-Taqueria-Vancouver"><img alt="Bandidas Taqueria on Urbanspoon" src="http://www.urbanspoon.com/b/logo/1419019/minilogo.gif" style="border-bottom-style: none; border-color: initial; border-left-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-top-style: none; border-width: initial; height: 15px; width: 104px;" /></a>http://fueledbyfoodblog.blogspot.com/2011/05/bandidas-taqueria.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (FueledByFood)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-311206729555678059.post-6203463642982263649Tue, 03 May 2011 23:39:00 +00002011-05-03T16:41:44.545-07:00HealthyVegetarianAvocado Smoothie<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lK8cIrL2xeg/TcCRdqc543I/AAAAAAAAArw/fQXsQN3QO-k/s1600/Avocado+Smoothie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lK8cIrL2xeg/TcCRdqc543I/AAAAAAAAArw/fQXsQN3QO-k/s320/Avocado+Smoothie.jpg" width="238" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Avocado Smoothie - Low Fat Vanilla Yogurt, Avocado, Almond Milk, Ice, (Honey)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Avocado's are good for you, they are high in fiber, contain "good" fat, and have more potassium than bananas. &nbsp;Go pick up some avocado's and turn them into creamy, delicious smoothies! &nbsp;I froze the leftovers in ice trays.</div>http://fueledbyfoodblog.blogspot.com/2011/05/avocado-smoothie.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (FueledByFood)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-311206729555678059.post-7637070086859224616Tue, 03 May 2011 02:07:00 +00002011-08-20T20:24:25.119-07:00Vancouver-BCJapaneseGyo-O<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">My trip to Gyo-O turned out to be an adventurous dining experience. &nbsp; This trip I ate fresh-water eel, an assortment of raw fish, and sea urchin. &nbsp;</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zMFaujuNT4g/Tb9f0Gm-DxI/AAAAAAAAAro/_AQY11_eVuc/s1600/eel+on+rice.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><i><img border="0" height="237" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zMFaujuNT4g/Tb9f0Gm-DxI/AAAAAAAAAro/_AQY11_eVuc/s320/eel+on+rice.JPG" width="320" /></i></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><i>BBQ Fresh Water Eel on Rice, with a Soft Boiled Egg</i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P3C-vcEoQEA/Tb9ft9MbS1I/AAAAAAAAArk/ZB0EhOTnfms/s1600/chirashi.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><i><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P3C-vcEoQEA/Tb9ft9MbS1I/AAAAAAAAArk/ZB0EhOTnfms/s320/chirashi.JPG" width="320" /></i></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><i>Chopped Up Raw Fish with a Soft Boiled Egg</i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5hGS8WGbBiY/Tb9f8u6Az4I/AAAAAAAAArs/QNhn1xF47KU/s1600/uni.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><i><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5hGS8WGbBiY/Tb9f8u6Az4I/AAAAAAAAArs/QNhn1xF47KU/s320/uni.JPG" width="320" /></i></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><i>Uni! a.k.a Sea Urchin - Tasted rich and creamy. &nbsp;Had an acquired taste.</i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><i>You either love it or hate it. &nbsp; It looks kind of weird too. &nbsp;&nbsp;</i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Overall, the Gyo-O has a large extensive menu, and the food is worth trying. &nbsp;I was quite satisfied with my experience here. &nbsp;I think I ate way too much raw-fish for one night... (I would say the chewiness of the bun is somewhat similar to the texture of mochi, which is the closest comparison I could think of) &nbsp; The texture is definitely very different compared to regular bread. &nbsp;I think it's worth trying out, it's always good to different types of foods at least once. &nbsp; The bun itself is quite tasty, it had a very cheesy and buttery like taste. &nbsp;</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">One thing I would like to mention is that you should eat the bread while it's FRESH and warm, don't let is sit out and get cold, otherwise the bread will turn as hard as a rock!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/1346096/restaurant/Riley-Park-Little-Mountain/Quejos-Bakery-Vancouver"><img alt="Quejos Bakery on Urbanspoon" src="http://www.urbanspoon.com/b/logo/1346096/minilogo.gif" style="border: none; height: 15px; width: 104px;" /></a></div>http://fueledbyfoodblog.blogspot.com/2011/04/quejos.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (FueledByFood)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-311206729555678059.post-5293992655848513672Wed, 27 Apr 2011 03:55:00 +00002011-08-20T20:25:20.807-07:00SingaporeanVancouver-BCHawker's Delight<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">What I ate at Hawkers Delight</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t2Zg0AXBkdU/TbeO1wcRUrI/AAAAAAAAArU/QLJOzBpirYw/s1600/Lontong+Sayur+Lodeh.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t2Zg0AXBkdU/TbeO1wcRUrI/AAAAAAAAArU/QLJOzBpirYw/s320/Lontong+Sayur+Lodeh.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><i>Lontong Sayur Lodeh</i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4guUYticq7g/TbeO9LXAMZI/AAAAAAAAArY/kNqRNw9vst8/s1600/Mee+Pok.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><i><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4guUYticq7g/TbeO9LXAMZI/AAAAAAAAArY/kNqRNw9vst8/s320/Mee+Pok.JPG" width="320" /></i></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><i>Mee Pok</i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><i><br /></i></div>Hawker's Delight serves delicious tasty meals for a good price. &nbsp;Eating here is similar to eating at hawker center in Singapore. &nbsp; This place seems to be set up similarly to a Hawker Stall...from the way you order your food, the large menu above the cashier, the kitchen, to the way seat yourself. &nbsp; This place is great if your in a rush, or if you just want to have a quick meal. &nbsp; The service is fast, the food's served quick, and people usually leave after they finish up their meal. &nbsp; This is why I am always able to get a seat whenever I go, especially when it is quite busy. &nbsp; This is the type of place where you come just for the food and value, not the ambiance. <br /><br />Note: &nbsp;Hawker's Delight is cash only<br /><br /><a href="http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/180806/restaurant/Riley-Park-Little-Mountain/Hawkers-Delight-Vancouver"><img alt="Hawker's Delight on Urbanspoon" src="http://www.urbanspoon.com/b/logo/180806/minilogo.gif" style="border: none; height: 15px; width: 104px;" /></a>http://fueledbyfoodblog.blogspot.com/2011/04/hawkers-delight.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (FueledByFood)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-311206729555678059.post-8772815228996672752Sat, 23 Apr 2011 07:07:00 +00002011-04-25T17:27:32.556-07:00HealthyChickenSpaghetti SquashWhat is spaghetti squash? &nbsp;Well, to start, the spaghetti squash is an oval shaped, yellow-colored vegetable. &nbsp; When cooked, the inner flesh of the squash can be scrapped away to stringy spaghetti-liked strands. &nbsp;Hence the name "Spaghetti Squash!."<br /><br />There's many ways to cook the spaghetti squash, from baking, steaming, boiling, to microwaving. &nbsp; The easiest way would be to microwave the squash. &nbsp; The best way (in my opinion) is to bake the squash. <br /><br />The way I like to eat spaghetti squash is with a tomato-based pasta sauce. &nbsp; In my sauce I use sautéed onions, &nbsp;crushed tomatoes, chopped up chicken, olives, bay-leaves and red wine. &nbsp; For the garnish I used basil and feta cheese.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6VVXeTs1xzw/TbJ5HalE2uI/AAAAAAAAArQ/3xodALTcTgY/s1600/Spaghetti+Squash.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6VVXeTs1xzw/TbJ5HalE2uI/AAAAAAAAArQ/3xodALTcTgY/s320/Spaghetti+Squash.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br />This is a good low calorie, low carb, gluten-free alternative to the traditional pasta and tomato sauce. &nbsp;:)http://fueledbyfoodblog.blogspot.com/2011/04/spaghetti-squash.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (FueledByFood)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-311206729555678059.post-7053740855530508627Wed, 20 Apr 2011 04:03:00 +00002011-08-20T20:25:46.936-07:00Vancouver-BCDessertThe Dirty ApronThe Dirty Apron, was once just a cooking school, but not anymore. &nbsp; It is now a cooking school + delicatessen!<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EjYVajkFyLI/Ta5Y8yYKSSI/AAAAAAAAArM/4D7za0NZLmg/s1600/pistachio+cheesecake+brownie.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EjYVajkFyLI/Ta5Y8yYKSSI/AAAAAAAAArM/4D7za0NZLmg/s320/pistachio+cheesecake+brownie.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>pistachio cheesecake brownie</i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><br /></i></div>So I was wandering town, and found myself craving something sweet, so I strolled down Beaty St. to the Dirty Apron. &nbsp; As I entered, I began to browse through their selection of artisan sandwiches, and delectable desserts. The one thing that caught my eye was the Pistachio Cheesecake Brownie. &nbsp; It sounded delicious because I am a fan of cheesecake, brownies and pistachio. &nbsp;I had to order it!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The texture of the brownie, was in between chewy and cakey. &nbsp; It tasted both sweet and savory, the flavors from the chocolate, and cheesecake complemented each other well. <br /><br />If you're in the mood for a twist on the brownie, head over to The Dirty Apron. &nbsp; On my next visit, I'd like to try their Lavender Zucchini Chocolate Cake, it sounds delicious...yum!<br /><br /><a href="http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/1557228/restaurant/Gastown/The-Dirty-Apron-Vancouver"><img alt="The Dirty Apron on Urbanspoon" src="http://www.urbanspoon.com/b/logo/1557228/minilogo.gif" style="border: none; height: 15px; width: 104px;" /></a>http://fueledbyfoodblog.blogspot.com/2011/04/dirty-apron.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (FueledByFood)0
